Daily Care & Cleaning
Use a soft cloth or sponge with mild, pH-neutral soap and warm water for daily cleaning. Avoid harsh chemicals, acidic products (like lemon, vinegar or bleach), and abrasive pads that can dull the surface over time. For darker stones, an occasional application of a suitable stone polish can enhance shine and reduce fingerprints.
Heat Protection
While granite and quartz are highly resistant to heat, we recommend using trivets or heat pads for hot pans and dishes. Never place “red-hot” cookware directly on the surface, as sudden temperature changes can cause damage.
Sealing Natural Stone
Granite and marble worktops are typically sealed after installation. This helps prevent stains and liquid absorption. Depending on the stone type and level of use, resealing may be required every 1–4 years. Quartz surfaces are non-porous and do not require sealing. If you notice darkening when wet, it may be time to reseal.
Preventing Stains & Damage
- Wipe spills immediately — especially wine, oil, and acidic foods.
- Avoid storing metal cans, cooking oils or rusty pans directly on the stone.
- Use coasters under glasses, especially those with citrus juices or alcohol.
- For dried-on residue or paint, gently use a plastic scraper or the flat edge of a razor blade at a shallow angle.
Scratches, Chips & Repairs
Granite and quartz are highly scratch-resistant, but we still recommend using chopping boards to protect both your surface and your knives. Avoid dragging ceramic, cast iron or metal objects across the surface. Chips are rare but can occur from heavy impact on edges — most can be professionally repaired or filled. If possible, keep the chipped piece.
